Let’s Give This Blogging Thing A Go (20 years after everyone else!)

What to expect from this new blog section of the site? In all honesty it will be ramblings about some of my favourite topics - PPC and paid social; the digital industry; and the truth about running a small business. And this will all be alongside as much travel and as many digital nomad stories as possible. 

Let me start with a bit more about me and how I ended up here. I’ve been working in PPC since 2012 in agencies and corporate client side managing big teams of marketing specialists and multi-million pound budgets. Then in 2020 I took the leap to go out on my own to work directly with small independently owned businesses and brands, and I’ve never looked back. That’s not to say that it’s been smooth sailing the whole way, there have been bumps in the road and many learning curves. And all this alongside the very fast changing world of digital marketing and PPC right now. Every day’s a school day as they say!

Working for myself, and with the right fit of clients has meant that I’ve been able to incorporate so much more travelling into my life. Gone are my days of managing annual leave days on a spreadsheet with meticulous precision to squeeze in the most number of trips possible. I now get to mix my work and travels together in a semi-digital nomad lifestyle and love it. You’ll find me across the globe, laptop in tow managing campaigns from airports, coffee shops, trains, hotel rooms or co-working spaces at whatever time works. This has looked like 5am client calls from a hotel back office in Mexico, launching new campaigns from a sun lounger on the beach in Spain, and making campaign creative changes from a cruise ship in the middle of the North Sea. Let me be clear, the majority of the time I’m working from my un-glamourous home office in North Manchester. But I’ll be bringing you along when I am on a working holiday and give you all the tips and trips for getting the most out of it.
